Gossipers

Here is my latest orchid watercolor, a crop of lovely laeliocattleyas. Done on 300# Arches Cold Press Watercolor paper in 15x22 format. I call them Gossipers because they remind of a group of ladies sharing the latest tidbits of news. Such pretty colors, and such fun to paint. My first use of a really dark background. I think I'll be using this style in future paintings for the drama! The original is for sale, $300.00 matted, unframed.

Here is a 5x7 inch watercolor on 140# watercolor paper that I did when I was at Swamp Fest the beginning of this month. It was fun to try out my travel set of watercolors by Winsor and Newton, which I hadn't had a chance to use for a while. Great to be outdoors in the Florida "winter" sunshine in the beautiful surroundings of Weeki Wachee, where the mermaids play! Here is another great cattleya hybrid. I really enjoyed the challenge of painting yellow flowers, which can be hard to describe within the limited parameters of the yellows available of watercolor medium. The bouquet of happy orchid faces is so cheerful, it makes me feel happy everytime I pass by this painting in the hallway of my studio. The image is 15x22 inches, painted on 300 lb.
